Private investors are seeking more funding to back African-based businesses. In the first half of 2019 alone, private equity firms focused on Africa reached a sum of $1.7 billion in investment funds. This new wave of investment in 2019 is expected to surpass the combined figures for the last 2 years. One of the main projects that private investors plan to pour money into is renewable energy, which currently holds a sum of $850 million.
