Since the launch of Rwanda Day in 2010, the country has seen increased involvement of the diaspora in its country’s economic and social development. There has also been a significant increase in remittances. The event provides a rare avenue for citizens abroad to meet with policy makers, leaders of key sectors, and the president; to discuss investment opportunities, share concerns, and come up with possible solutions. The main theme of Rwanda day 2019 which took place two weeks ago in Bonn German, was connect young people within the Rwandan community abroad with businesses in search of talent. Attendees from the diaspora have expressed how the event is not only vital for them to find business opportunities, but also to reconnect with their people and culture. Read more at CNBC Africa.
